Significant Disproportionality and how to advocate for your child

Black students are over identified for special education services, and over represented in suspension and expulsion rates. This workshop covers the intersectionality of race and disability and the rights of Black students with disabilities (or of those who have been misidentified as having a disability). This workshop will cover:

•data documenting the over representation of Black students in special education

•Significant Disproportionality Plans and federal and state law

•how to advocate for your child
