Requesting and Securing an IEP or 504 Plan

If you suspect your child may have a disability but don’t know where to start, this workshop will help. This workshop leads you through the process and timelines of requesting an assessment, securing an IEP meeting, and knowing your and your child’s rights every step of the way. This workshop helps families to understand:

•their kids’ rights to special education placement, services and/or supports

•their own rights as parents

•the difference between 504s and IEPs

•how to show up as an effective, compassionate advocate for their child

•what legal recourses are available to them when they hit a wall
